Safety Centre

Date with confidence.

Your safety matters more than any match. Here's how to protect yourself.

How to spot a dating scam

Be careful if someone moves very fast, says they love you quickly, avoids video calls, always has an excuse not to meet, or asks you to move to another app straight away.

Common stories include an emergency, a stuck parcel or customs fee, a business or crypto 'opportunity', or a plane ticket to visit you.

Requests for money

Never send money, mobile money, gift cards, crypto or bank details to someone you have only met online — however good the reason sounds. Anyone who asks should be reported.

Recognising impersonation

Photos that look like a model or celebrity, details that don't add up, or a profile copying someone you know can be signs of impersonation. Look for the verified badge, and report anything that feels wrong.

Protect your privacy

Don't share your home address, workplace, ID documents, passwords or one-time codes. Be careful with photos that show where you live. UPENDWA staff will never ask for your password.

Meeting in person

Video call first if you can. Meet in a busy public place, tell a friend where you'll be, arrange your own transport, and stay in control of your drink.

How to block someone

Tap the ••• button on their profile or match card and choose Block. You'll disappear from each other's Discover, any match is removed and you can't match again. They aren't notified.

How to report harassment

Tap ••• and choose Report, pick what happened and add details if you want. Reports are private — the person is never told who reported them. Our team reviews every report.

Your safety settings

In Settings & safety you can hide yourself from Discover, choose notifications, and request account deletion.
